36th Annual Natural Hazards Research and Application Workshop

The DRR Program at FIU will participate in the 36th Annual Natural Hazards Research and Application Workshop of the Natural Hazards Center. The event will take place from Saturday, July 9 through Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Omni Interlocken Resort, Broomfield, Colorado. Since 1975, the Natural Hazards Center has hosted the Annual Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop for 400 federal, state, and local emergency officials; representatives of nonprofit and humanitarian organizations; hazards researchers; disaster consultants; and others dedicated to alleviating the impacts of disasters. Richard Olson, (DRR-FIU Program) will participate in a Plenary on the 2010 Haiti Earthquake’s Impacts and Ongoing Recovery Challenges; and Juan Pablo Sarmiento and Gabriela Hoberman (DRR-FIU Program) on the Governance, Accountability, and Disaster Risk Reduction session.
