Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña

The e-learning course of higher education on Integral Risk Management is developed and conducted in Spanish by the International Center of Numeric Methods (CIMNE) at the Engineering of the Universidad Politecnica de Cataluña (Spain).

The purpose of this course is to train students in diverse theoretical and practical aspects related to risk assessment of natural or human induced origin, risk reduction, disaster management, response, rehabilitation and reconstruction. The course has a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional approach and runs transversally throughout the development planning processes.

This initiative has been selected by the Paul C. Bell Risk Management Program to target the university population of Latin America and the Caribbean region, aiming at strengthening the theoretical-practical relation between the academy and the society in the topic of disaster risk management. This course is taught by Professors Omar Dario Cardona A. and Alex H. Barbat B.

This is a ten week course, structured in two well defined modules. It demands from the student at least one daily hour by subject. Considering the fact that the course involves two subjects, two daily hours at least are required during the length of the program.
