El Programa de Reducción de Riesgos de Desastre (RRD) de Florida International University (FIU) anuncia el Curso de Medios de Vida en la Reducción de Riesgos de Desastre (MV-RRD) con una modalidad en línea, dentro del área de extensión y desarrollo profesional, para el 6 de Julio de 2015. El Curso tiene una duración de dos meses y será dictado en español. La fecha límite de aplicación es el 12 de Junio de 2015.

The College List is a database of colleges offering emergency management courses across the United States. Alongside our report is the searchable data spreadsheet which will allow users to look for specific information such as subject, location, degree level, delivery method, and contact information for the program.

Political Economy of DRR Hands-on Workshop, August 2015

The DRR Program conducted the Hands-on Workshop on Political Economy of DRR in Panama from August 3–5, 2015. The participants were students who had successfully completed the online course in Fall 2014. The workshop added to the contents of the online course and included topics on governance, planning and DRR, actors and levels approach, public-private partnerships, legislative frameworks, and case studies and exercises.

Livelihoods and DRR, Online Course, 2015

The DRR Program conducted the online course on Livelihoods and DRR (Curso de Medios de Vida en la Reducción de Riesgos de Desastre) delivered in Spanish. The two-month course began on July 6 and was completed on September 6, 2015.

Exchange visit with COPECO-Honduras and CNE-Costa Rica

The FIU-DRR Program hosted an exchange visit with representatives of COPECO-Honduras (National Emergency Management Agency of Honduras) and CNE-Costa Rica (National Emergency Commission) in March 2015 at the MMC Campus. The delegation visited state, local, departmental and institutional EOCs, and met with key operational personnel to learn about integration of local and state EOCs, and with regional and national system.

The DRR Program is now accepting applications for the online course in Spanish: Sistemas de Información Geográfica y Sensores Remotos para la Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres. The course begins November 2, 2015 and ends March 14, 2016.
