Enhancement of Graduate Courses in Risk Management at the Level of Communities of Practice

The University of San Carlos of Guatemala is a mayor public university founded in 1676 with its main campus located in Guatemala City. It has twelve Centers throughout the country. The Graduate School of Architecture has been in existence for twenty years. It currently has forty-six students. Within the Graduate School, the Masters Program in Risk Reduction and Management was created in 2004. In 2006, this Masters Program was extended to the University Center of the North (CUNOR). The Master Program has twenty-four students.

The objective of the project is to provide academic support to elaborate and apply research strategies and strategies of risks prevention in order to contribute to the sustainable and collective use of natural resources in areas of Guatemala were pilot programs are being implemented.

Mario Ceballos is the Project Investigator. Since 2003, Dr. Mario Ceballos has been the Director of the Graduate School of Architecture at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala (USAC). He has a Ph.D. in architecture. The Graduate School of Architecture established in 2004 a Masters Program in Risk Reduction and Management.
